Top Capitol Hill aide, Michael Meehan, joins Virilion

WASHINGTON, DC - April 4, 2008. Virilion announced today that seasoned political strategist, Michael Meehan has joined the firm as Senior Vice President. With over 20 years of national political experience, Meehan will provide strategic services and develop integrated campaigns for the firm’s national and international clients. Meehan also serves as president of BGR Public Relations.

Beginning in 2005, Meehan served as U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell’s top aide in the U.S. Senate, managing her Senate office and operating as the chief strategist of her 2006 landslide re-election campaign in Seattle.
Before this, Meehan served as Senior Advisor to Senator John Kerry’s successful bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2003-4 and in the general election. Prior to Kerry’s presidential campaign, Meehan was the Vice President of Strategy and Politics for NARAL Prochoice America in 2003, where he ran the 501(c)3 and 501 (c)4 programs.
As a senior political and communications strategist for U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle, Meehan served as Director of Message Development and Polling for the Democratic National Committee and as Senior Counselor for then DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe, 2001-2003.
From 1997-2001, Meehan served as the National Political Director for Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle and served as communications director for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer of California, U.S. Rep. John Olver of Massachusetts and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. In addition to his work at the DNC, Meehan was staff director of Senate candidate recruitment at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in 1999-2000.
